CS-RUBY (RUB) SERIES SUBSURFACE SAFETY VALVE
INTRODUCTION
The ‘RUB’ Tubing Retrievable Safety Valves is a self-equalizing, flapper-type, surface controlled subsurface tubing mounted safety valve. The ‘RUB’ series valves are controlled from the surface via a small diameter hydraulic Control Line connecting the safety valve to the surface Emergency Shut Down System. Since the valve is of the normally closed type, when the applied Control Line pressure is removed, the valve returns to the closed position, thus shutting in the well. The “RUB” Tubing Retrievable Safety Valves offer permanent lock-open as a standard feature. Lock open is accomplished via Lock-Open and Communication Tools. Should circumstances request that the valve be locked open for any reason, the valve can be locked open and either pulled from the well or a Wireline Retrievable Insert Safety Valve may be run and landed in the Landing Nipple Profile of the “RUB” Series Safety Valve. The Wireline Safety Valve utilizes the existing control line for operation. A Communication Tool is used to open the control chamber to the tubing for this purpose.
FEATURES
◎ S100% Metal-to-Metal sealing and containment of wellbore fluids when the valve is in the closed position;
◎ Two Stop Seal and Piston Non-elastomeric Seals, maximize the ‘RUB’ series reliability to meet each application;
◎ Lock-Open and communication. The Baker ‘RUB’ is capable of having the Flapper locked open and communication with the hydraulic control chamber established with accessory tools that can be easily adapted to perform either functions. Communication does not request any shifting sleeves in the Safety Valve.
